  • Yes, our apartments are fully furnished with Stainless Steel appliances, In-Unit Washer and Dryers, TV stand, Coffee Table, 45" Smart TV, in your common area. Full XL Bed and headboard, Desk, chair and dresser. 

  • Yes, Internet is included in rent, however utilities are metered and billed separately. 

  • Yes, depending on which application you choose and credit screening results. 

  • Our lease term is 12 months with the first rent installment due on September 1st. 

  • Yes, you may bring in your own roommates or we can find the perfect match for you! 

  • Residents will pay each month through their resident portal. 

  • Yes, Garage parking is available at a first come first serve basis at $135.00 per month or free street parking is always available. 

  • We are a 2-3 minute walk to the closest SCAD Bus stop, with an overall walking score of 75. 

  • Resort Style Pool, 24- Hour Fitness Center, Sauna, Game Room, Art Studio, Relaxation Room, Coffee Bar, Podcast Room, Study Booths, Study Lounge , Cafe Lounge and an EV Car charging station.

Can I lease an apartment at The Helmsman if I’m an International Student?

What documents do I need to provide in order to sign my lease?

We simply require a form of identification. For international students, this is typically a passport number or VISA information.

Do I have to purchase furniture for my unit - What will I need to bring?

Do I still need a guarantor to qualify?

Yes. If you would like to qualify using a guarantor, your guarantor must be a U.S. citizen and meet The Helmsman’s standard income and credit requirements.

What if I do not have a U.S Guarantor?

How can I take a tour of The Helmsman if I’m not in Savannah, Georgia?

Students can also take advantage of two alternative options for financial qualifications: prepayment of the security deposit or enrollment in the Guarantor Waiver Program. Security deposits are equal to two months' rent. The Guarantor Waiver Program is a convenient option that requires a monthly fee of approximately $98.25 and eliminates the need to provide a guarantor or pay a security deposit.

The Helmsman offers a fully furnished apartment designed for convenience and comfort. The kitchens are equipped with stainless steel appliances, including a refrigerator with icemaker, dishwasher, garbage disposal, built in microwave and a in-unit washer and dryer. The living area features a sectional couch, coffee table, entertainment center, and a mounted flat screen TV. Each bedroom includes a full-size XL mattress and headboard, stackable drawers, desk & chair. You will need to bring your own dishware, utensils,  bedding, towels, shower curtain, bathroom rugs and any other personal items to make your stay comfortable. We suggest for your bedding that you purchase Queen size sheets and comforters and a standard shower curtain.

The Helmsman offers a variety of tour options to suit your needs. If you’re unable to visit in person, we provide FaceTime and virtual tours for a personalized experience. Additionally, we can offer detailed pre-recorded video tours if you prefer a more flexible option.
